Lot #6. SULPHIDE. . Figure is a parrot on a stick or perch. Excellent detail. No air bubbling. Set slightly forward. Polished. 1-5/16". Pre-Sale Estimate: $130-$275. Final Bid: $125.

Lot #7. SULPHIDE. . Figure is a one-hump camel. Best detail I've seen on a camel, you can see his eyes and mouth. Shallow air bubble under the belly on both sides. Set slightly back. Polished. Pre-Sale Estimate: $125-$250. Final Bid: $100.

Lot #8. SULPHIDE. . Figure is a cow. Below average detail. Air bubble on one side, small air bubble on the other. Set low in the marble. Marble is huge, figure is small for the marble. A couple of tiny subsurface moons. 2-3/8" (just under 2-1/2"). Near Mint(+) (8.7). Pre-Sale Estimate: $200-$400. Final Bid: $100.

Lot #9. SULPHIDE. . Seated child reading a book. Child is probably a boy in Victorian night dress. Above average detail to the figure. No air bubbling. Set slightly off center. Lot #10. SULPHIDE. . Figure of a seated cat. Above average detail to the figure. No air bubbling. Figure is large. This is actually one of the nicest cat sulphides I have ever seen. Polished marble, but super sulphide. 2-1/4" (just a hair under). Pre-Sale Estimate: $300-$600. Final Bid: $260.

Lot #11. SULPHIDE. . Figure is a French fairy tale character. A dog, dressed in French clothing and a hat. Above average detail. No air bubbling. Figure is large for the marble. Set slightly high. Excellent example of this figure. Polished. 2" (a hair under). Pre-Sale Estimate: $350-$700. Final Bid: $170.

Lot #12. SULPHIDE. . Victorian figure a girl kneeling down, hold a mallet (croquet?). Above average detailing to the figure. A couple of tiny air bubbles on her back. The very tip of her feet is broken off. Polished. 1-3/4". Pre-Sale Estimate: $200-$400. Final Bid: $140.

Lot #13. SULPHIDE. . Figure of a standing horse, wearing a saddle. Head is turned slightly. The figure cracked on insertion and is slightly separated. Excellent detail to the figure. Large figure for the marble. No air bubbling. Well centered. Marble surface has been polished. 1-7/16". Pre-Sale Estimate: $150-$300. Final Bid: $120.

Lot #14. SULPHIDE. . Figure of a federal eagle with outstretched wings. Head turned to one side. Excellent detail to the figure. A few air bubbles floating in the marble, but none directly on the figure. Set slightly high. Excellent three-dimensional figure. Surface is original with just a few sparkles. 1-9/16". Lot #15. SULPHIDE. . Figure of an ape, seated on a rock. Crossed legs. Left hand is grasping something. Some collectors feel it's a banana. Others feel it is more obscene. Above average detail to this figure. No air bubbling. Figure is set slightly off center.A little small for the size of the marble. A few scratching marks on the marble surface, one tiny subsurface moon near the bottom pontil. 2-3/8". Near Mint(+) (8.9). Pre-Sale Estimate: $450-$900. Final Bid: $310.

Lot #18. SULPHIDE. . Figure is a fluffy dog. The base glass of the marble is purple. I don't believe it is a sun-tint. Above average detail to the figure. Small air bubble on one side of the figure. Figure is set slightly high and back in the marble. One tiny moon, several tiny subsurface moons and sparkles. 1-9/16". Near Mint(+) (8.7). Pre-Sale Estimate: $800-$1600. Final Bid: $560.

Lot #19. SULPHIDE. . Figure is a dancing courtesan, or possibly a jester of some sort. Male figure in puffy balloony clothing. Hands clasped behind his back. Legs are in a dancing position, splayed behind him. Head is tilted back. He is laughing. Wearing a square hat. Smallair bubble on the left side of his upper body and face. Partially obscuring those portions of the body. Not other air bubbles. Excellent detail. Figure is well centered. A couple of tiny chips (discreet). Overall haze. Needs a very light buff. Very rare. 1-1/2". Good(+) (7.8). Pre-Sale Estimate: $400-$800. Final Bid: $270.

Lot #20. SULPHIDE. . Figure of a boy sitting on a brick or stone wall. Left hand is holding a sack of some sort, right hand is patting a dog on the head. Average detail to the figure. Some "silvering" air on the figure. Well-centered, it pretty much fills the marble.Very rare figure. Polished. 1-1/2". Pre-Sale Estimate: $400-$800. Final Bid: $290.

Lot #22. SULPHIDE. . Handpainted figure. Figure is a carrier pigeon (although some say it is a more exotic bird) on a stump. Stump is painted green, bird has blue wings and black eyes. The beak is broken off. No air bubbles. Well centered. Polished surface. 1-1/2". Pre-Sale Estimate: $900-$1800. Final Bid: $900.

Lot #23. SULPHIDE. . Figure is a frog. Above average detail to the frog. Very clearly seen. No air bubbles. Very slightly off center. Surface is polished. 1-3/8". Pre-Sale Estimate: $200-$400. Final Bid: $200.

Lot #24. SULPHIDE. . Seated monkey, in a French soldier outfit, beating a drum! Excellent detail to the figure! Very shallow air bubble on the left chest of the figure. Marble has loads of very tiny air bubbles in it. Surface is original. A couple of small sparkles. Very rare. 1-1/8". Mint(-) (9.0). Pre-Sale Estimate: $550-$1100. Final Bid: $410.

Lot #25. SULPHIDE. . Girl seated in an upside down chair, holding a doll. Above average detail to the figure. No air bubbling. Set slightly off-center. Polished surface. 1-11/16". Pre-Sale Estimate: $325-$650. Final Bid: $220.

Lot #26. SULPHIDE. . Type of bird I have not seen in a sulphide before. I think it is a canary. Average detail to the figure. "Silvering" air bubbles, but no obscuring air bubbles. Set slightly low in the marble. A couple of tiny subsurface moons, some sparkles. Some haziness. 1-3/4". Good(+) (7.9). Pre-Sale Estimate: $125-$250. Final Bid: $90.

Lot #27. SULPHIDE. . Numeral "6" on a disk or coin. Narrow air bubble on one side. Fairly well-centered. A number of subsurface moons. 1-3/4". Good(+) (7.8). Pre-Sale Estimate: $210-$425. Final Bid: $250.

Lot #28. SULPHIDE. . Figure is a crouched bunny. Average detail to the figure. No air bubbles on the figure. There are a couple of air bubbles in the marble. On one side of the figure there are some splotches of a black substance. Appears to be pitch or creosote, I'm not sure. Well centered. Polished. 2-1/8". Pre-Sale Estimate: $160-$325. Lot #29. SULPHIDE. . Figure is a wolverine. Nice arched body. Above average detail. Shallow air bubble on part of one side. Slightly off center. Polished surface. 2". Pre-Sale Estimate: $140-$275. Final Bid: $135.

Lot #30. SULPHIDE. . Figure of a roaring lion, head upturned. Male lion. Above average detail to the figure. No air bubbling. Small figure for the marble. Set very slightly back. One small chip and a little pitting. 1-15/16". Near Mint (8.6). Pre-Sale Estimate: $150-$300. Final Bid: $130.

Lot #31. SULPHIDE. . Figure of a leaping horse. In light purple glass. This marble is probably sun tinted. Average detail to the figure. Very shallow air bubble on one side of the figure under the belly. Well centered. In great shape. 1-15/16". Mint (9.7). Pre-Sale Estimate: $475-$950. Final Bid: $500.

Lot #32. SULPHIDE. . Figure is some sort of animal, in attack stance. Not sure what kind it is. Above average detail. The tail is flipped back onto the back. No air bubbles. Well centered. Two very tiny chip areas. 1-5/16". Near Mint(+) (8.7). Pre-Sale Estimate: $150-$300. Final Bid: $110.

Lot #33. SWIRL. Latticinio core. White latticinio core swirl. From near an end of the cane. Open panel about one-quarter of the core. Outer layer is a cage of pink, green and blue bands. Again, open panel in the outer layer in the same spot. A couple of small areas of roughness (can't even really call it shallow chipping). 2-1/4". Near Mint (8.6). Pre-Sale Estimate: $125-$250. Lot #34. SWIRL. Latticinio core. White latticinio core swirl. Base glass is slightly smoky color. Outer layer is three blue and white bands, and three pink and yellow bands. Some very tiny flakes, very tiny moons, very tiny subsurface moons and sparkles on the marble. 2-3/8". Near Mint(8.6). Pre-Sale Estimate: $125-$250. Final Bid: $110.

Lot #35. SWIRL. Latticinio core. White latticinio core swirl. Outer layer is three green, white and yellow bands, and three pink, white and yellow bands. Heavy clear casing. There are several spots that are filled with a polymer or a resin (largest is 1/2"). Some other subsurface moons. 2-5/16". Good(+) (7.9). Pre-Sale Estimate: $150-$300. Final Bid: $100.

Lot #36. SWIRL. Latticinio core. Interesting. White latticinio core. Thin core. Outer layer is four narrow bands. Two yellow, one blue, one green. Almost no twist to the marble. Small reverse twist at the top. Buffed surface. Some damage remains, the bottom pontil is intact. 2-3/8". Pre-Sale Estimate: $160-$325. Final Bid: $140.

Lot #54. SWIRL. Divided core. Lot of two marbles. Both are very similar English type. At first glance, they appear to be same cane, but they are not. Each is three band core. Each band is bright red, green, blue, yellow and white. Outer layer on one is three sets of white strands. Lot #138. MISCELLANEOUS. Game. Spinner piece from a race track game by Hipwell Industries. Steel canister. ABbout 7" diameter and 4" tall. Depicts 12 greyhound dogs on it, with various scores. Each dog has a clearie inset in the canister cover above it. There is a spinner piece on itwith a rabbit pointer and with a battery operated light bulb inside. As the spinner spins, the light bulb illuminates each marble in turn. Spinner seems to be damaged, it is held together by tape. Some very minor rubbing. These are hard to find. Lot #245. CONTEMPORARY HANDMADE. Salazar Art Glass. Hard to find older marble. Bottom half is dichroic blue. Top half is clear. Has a yellow moon, three white puffy clouds and several white stars. Lot #249. CONTEMPORARY HANDMADE. Kaimana Glass/Shanti Devi. Huge. Transparent clear base. Subsurface layer of white with green, blue, black, yellow, pink and dichroic. Unsigned, but it is Kaimana Glass and was made by Shanti Devi. She is no longer producing marbles. Probably very early 1990s. Gorgeous. 3-1/8". Mint (9.9). Pre-Sale Estimate: $300-$600. Lot #250. CONTEMPORARY HANDMADE. Matthews Art Glass. The largest and rarest Matthews marble you can own. A "Hugo Largo". Gigantic. According to Mark Matthews, these were produced to be used as the top marble in the Population Portraits (the glass jar he produces with the marbles inside). Solid core swirl. Clear base. Opaque creamy white lobed core with black on the peaks. Middle layer is a cage of rainbow bands. Outer layer is three black with white bands and three sets of white strands. Signed "Matthews 1992". Just under 4" diameter. Mint (9.9). Pre-Sale Estimate: $2000-$4000. Final Bid: $2000.
